Starting settings and technique for each texture. Every head of hair is different: begin at the low end, test a hidden section, and always use a heat protectant on clean, dry hair.

Type 4A–4C · silk press

  1. Wash, deep-condition and blow-dry fully stretched. Dry hair only.
  2. Work in 1.5" × 0.5" sections with a fine-tooth comb chasing the plates.
  3. Start at LCD #9 and step up only if the section still reverts; 450°F is the ceiling.
  4. Finish roots, nape and edges with the 0.3" Mini.

Which plate width fits my hair?
2" Wide for long, thick or Type 3–4 hair and silk presses: wider plates mean about half the sections. 1" Classic for shoulder-length hair, bangs, flips and curls. 0.3" Mini for roots, the hairline, edges, pixie cuts and leave-out — or pair it with the 2" in the Silk Press Set. What temperature should I start at?
Start low and step up only if a section still reverts. Healthy Type 4A–4C silk press: LCD #9 · 410°F with the comb-chase method. Type 3 curls: LCD #7 · 375°F. Fine, bleached or high-porosity hair: 300–340°F (LCD #3–5). 100% human-hair wigs and leave-out: LCD #4–5 (320–340°F) — never synthetic fibers. 450°F is the ceiling.
How do the 30-day trial and 3-year warranty work?
Use it on wash day for 30 days; if it's not for you, return it with a free return label. After that, if anything goes wrong within 3 years, we ship you a brand-new iron free — a replacement, not a repair. Both start on delivery.

Most often the ALCI safety plug has tripped (a standard US safety feature): press Reset on the plug until it clicks, then switch on. "Err" means the protection stopped heating, often from unstable voltage: unplug, wait 60 seconds and use a different wall outlet. Still there? Start a claim and we replace it.
